KWA Safety & HazMat Consultants, Inc. (KWA) is a woman-owned business, currently
owned and operated by its president, Ms. Pamela Murcell, CIH. KWA Safety & HazMat Consultants,
Inc. is a California corporation which provides consulting services and training seminars for
occupational safety and health and hazardous materials and waste management.
KWA has earned an excellent reputation by providing top quality services for over twenty years.

KWA assists clients in the positive control of potential hazards to employees and management
of hazardous materials and waste during all aspects of operations and transportation. Our
services include consulting, training, auditing, development of regulatory compliance programs,
and development of health and safety programs.
KWA’s services are designed to assist companies with their environmental and occupational
health and safety needs cost-effectively. Our professional staff will supplement your internal
resources, or provide these services if you do not have this resource in-house. The advantages
to you of using KWA’s resources are: immediate attention to an environmental/occupational
health and safety need; no hiring or replacement costs; no additional overhead costs; non-productive
time is eliminated.
KWA provides consulting by professionals who are recognized for their expertise in their
respective fields of occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, hazardous materials waste
management, regulatory compliance, and training. KWA staffs its projects whenever possible, and
always when required, with professionals who are certified in their area of technical expertise;
for example, certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene or the Board of Certified
Safety Professionals. When a project involves laboratory analysis of samples, only certified
laboratories are used for this service.
Ms. Murcell provides the primary expertise in her
respective technical areas for consulting and training services. KWA retains key subconsultants
as needed to provide timely and quality services.
Pamela Murcell is the President of KWA Safety & HazMat Consultants, Inc., and a Certified
Industrial Hygienist. Her professional experience in occupational health
and safety, industrial hygiene, regulatory compliance, and training, began in 1980, and includes
seven and a half years with the State of California -- Cal/OSHA Program and Toxic Substances
Control Program, and eight and a half years as Corporate Health and Safety Director for Brown
and Caldwell Consulting Engineers.
Ms. Murcell has developed and implemented comprehensive health and safety programs, and provided
many classroom and hands-on training programs on health and safety topics. These topics include
hazard recognition, monitoring and assessing potential exposures, confined space entry, developing
and implementing safety plans, selection and use of personal protective equipment and respirators,
hazard communication, and all levels of hazardous waste operations training (40-hour, 24-hour,
Supervisor, Annual Refresher).
Ms. Murcell has provided project management and consultation for numerous projects. Her duties have
included planning, reviewing, approving and implementing safety plans for field work and for
hazardous waste operations compliance; evaluation of risks to workers and public health; and
coordination with agencies and project team members. Hazards associated with these projects
have ranged from confined space entry to toxic air contamination to hazardous materials handling
and sampling to heat stress. She has extensive field experience with sampling equipment and
instruments for soils investigations and air monitoring, and as site safety officer for project
teams on hazardous waste projects.
Ms. Murcell's additional experience includes: providing consultation on chemical exposures,
physical hazards and related health effects; assisting with the preparation of risk assessments;
interacting with regulatory agencies during regulations development process; and auditing health
and safety programs for compliance with OSHA regulations.
